Like all Kampa AirFrame tents, the Croyde can be inflated in just minutes and, once set up, it provides one of the most stable and weather resistant tents on the market. The Croyde has three distinct areas - bedrooms, living and canopy, all of which can be opened up to each other or used as independent areas, making this tent truly versatile. For instance, the canopy can be used as a 'wet' area meaning that nothing wet need ever reach the main living area. The main living area can also be accessed through a wet weather door on the right hand side and a standard door on the left. Both side doors have a secondary mesh screen to allow for good airflow on warmer days.
The tent has the fully sewn in groundsheet to keep the weather and bugs out and the warmth in. Inside you’ll find a large inner tent that, if required, can be divided into three bedrooms by using the zipped privacy curtain. This inner tent has loads of storage, both in the interior pockets and also in the organiser built into the front.
The porch comes with a groundsheet that can be clipped in or left out depending on your requirements and, to provide the ultimate ventilation on really hot days, extra ventilation can be found at the front and rear of the tent.
The Croyde 6 AIR is manufactured from heavy duty 150D polyester that we call Weather shield because of the superb protection it gives from the weather. We invite you to compare it with any other tents on the market and 'feel the difference'.
The canvas on the Kampa Croyde 6 Air is made from ‘Feel the difference’ heavy duty 150D Weather shield polyester that has a hydrostatic head of 6000mm, it also has fully taped seams to make it completely waterproof. This quality canvas is also fire retardant and UV protected.
Instead of poles this tent has five robust tubes of air. It has full head height throughout due to the five full head height beams being pre-bent, so the walls of the tent stand more upright which provides more usable living space at the sides. Each air tube is encased in two protective layers to ensure that they are incredibly tough to puncture. When the Croyde 6 Air is fully erected it measures an impressive 6.55 m x 4.15m.
The living area on the Kampa Croyde 6 air is huge, measuring 4.1m x 2.9m with three doorways leading into it. It has a large roll-aside door at the front, underneath the canopy; a roll-up panel door to one side and another door on the opposite side which has a wet weather protection canopy. Both of the side doors also have secondary mesh doors to increase ventilation on hot days. The Croyde 6 air features a fully sewn-in groundsheet throughout the bedroom and living area which helps keep the tent warm and prevents dust and dirt getting in.
The living area is kept naturally bright by the four large windows and also the extra two windows on the porch area. Each of the windows in the living area have curtains, so if you want some privacy, simply clip them up.
The middle wall panel can be half opened or fully opened depending on which way you prefer. From there it leads you out into the porch area that has a separate toggle in groundsheet. The porch has large front door which can be rolled all the way to the side to create a fantastic canopy which is perfect for storage, sitting under or for use as a cooking area.
The Croyde 6 Air sleeps six adults comfortably. It has a one large 6-berth inner at the rear of the tent with a curtain divider, which creates a 4+2 configuration. This bedroom as now got a darker lining over head to give you a better sleep when the sun comes up. The inners are made from breathable polyester and feature organiser pockets on the front for extra storage. These inners stay in-situ for set up and take down, so no more wasting time clipping them up and down every time you go away.
From start to finish this tent can be pitched in 15 minutes, which considering the size of the tent is truly amazing.
I only purchased the pack last week and decided to do a test pitch before the season starts from the time I started laying the footprint to closing the bag and putting the pack back into the car it took 1hr 5minutes on my own that included attaching the zip on canopy, extra bedroom and pegging all points. The only draw back is the repack of the tent it really takes two people to pack it away into the bag the same way it came out. The straps on the bag could be a little longer so you could get a good grip to compress the tent into the bag. The view from the inside of the tent is amazing as the panoramic windows allow unrivalled aspects and for privacy just zip up the blinds as much as you need them. The living area is huge and would take a 5ft table and chairs with room to spare. The sleeping area is spacious when opened up to one big area or as we will be using it with one side as a wardrobe. The large bed room is still big enough for a double airbed and a single camp bed. The vestebule area is brilliant for use as a kitchen area and with the canopy attached it creates so much more space. Fully pitched the space taken up by the tent and guy ropes is 9.5 metres x 6.5 metres with shortened straps to the front an back. The tent when inflated will stand on its own unlike the pole version it is that sturdy.
